Awards and recognition

The outstanding work of our journalists has been recognized with numerous awards, including 58 Pulitzer Prizes.

We’ve won 58 Pulitzer Prizes, including 35 for photography, since the award was established in 1917. In 2023, AP won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service and the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for its harrowing coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Sometimes one image tells the whole story. Our photojournalists often capture moments that are so compelling that they become iconic. Take a look at some of our award-winning photos.
